Mapping knowledge Domain
The term "mapping knowledge domains" was chosen to describe a newly evolving interdisciplinary area of science aimed at the process of charting, mining, analyzing, sorting, enabling navigation of, and displaying knowledge. In addtion, and perhaps even more important, the new analysis techniques that are being developed to process extremely large databases give promise of reveaving implicit knowledge that is presently known only to domain experts, and then only partially.
In the education field, I think the first step is to create equal opportunities for every child to have access to tremendous high quality study matherials and expert's instructions through internet. Thus the standards of learning object on different distributed databases, the general rules to gathering different subjects' knowledge, the knowledge representation in a dynamic, distributed environment and reliable interaction with autonomous sources are hot topics in this area.
